Consistent with the mission and goals of the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) to serve individuals as close to home as possible in the least restrictive setting, the department will no longer provide services at Southwestern State Hospital (SWSH).  Thus, Southwestern State Hospital in Thomasville, Georgia will close on December 31, 2013.

The Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) is seeking qualified candidates for Licensed Practical Nurse (WOW and Hourly) at Southwestern State Hospital in Thomasville, Georgia

Rose Haven is an inpatient unit which serves developmentally disabled (DD) individuals in an Intermediate Care Facility (ICF/MR) and a Skilled Nursing Facility.  

Adult Mental Health (AMH) is a segment of the hospital's inpatient services and includes the Adult Forensic program and Chemical Dependency Services.

A Current Georgia license to practice as a licensed practical nurse

Must obtain Safety Care certification by completion of new employee orientation and must maintain this certification as a term and condition of employment.

Preferred Qualifications

·          Experience working with population assigned either DD or AMH

·          Strong  communication and documentation skills

·          Previous experience working in a hospital setting

·          Computer/Technology  skills


Negotiable, based on experience / hour. This is an hourly position with no benefits associated.

This position is located at Southwestern State Hospital in Thomasville, Georgia.
