Job Description:
Responsible for the personal search of patient and property providing a process of intervention that allows for the transition into a safe and therapeutic environment for both patients and employees with a focus on quality patient safety and protection from harm.
Job Responsibilities:
Ensures patient valuables are protected
Make sure contraband items are not accessible to patients without supervision
Conducts searches in manner consistent with respect for the dignity of the person being searched with clear expectation of the purpose and procedures being used
Comply with uniform method of documenting, securing, and tracking belongings brought into the facility by patients
Ensures medications introduced by an/or accompanying consumers at the time of evaluation are controlled, accounted for, and hand off property
Knowledge of patient safety behavioral risk before responding to request for new patient arrival onto the unit
Provide therapeutic environment that initiates identification of patient, patient's symptoms, monitoring of changes, and observation level that is maintained through a clinical team concept
