Recreation / Volunteer Coordinator
The Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD), is seeking qualified candidates for the position of a Recreation/Volunteer Coordinator at Georgia Regional Hospital At Savannah (please visit www.garegionalsavannah.com for more information about the hospital).
Plans and develops recreational activities based on the evaluation of consumers' needs, goals and objectives. Plans and conducts daily recreational group sessions and programs in accordance with program structure and treatment plan. Submits weekly documented progress notes that reflect observations, goal oriented activities, consumers' progress, assessments of consumers and consumer needs. Promotes independence, physical fitness, social skills, fine motor skills, gross motor skills, and a healthy leisure lifestyle. Submits quarterly evaluations reflecting current needs, goals and progress. Attends designated team meetings and contributes activity information and observations. Assesses consumers' current level of leisure functioning, leisure interests, strengths, and resources. Organizes special events for consumers, such as monthly birthday party, holiday celebrations, movie nights, sports tournament, and etc. Oversees the development and implementation of the volunteer program. Responsible for recruiting volunteers. Interviews and recommends potential candidates for hire in the volunteer services. Responsible for the supervision, performance appraisals, productivity and compliance of assigned volunteer Staff. Ensures that volunteer requests are being met in a timely manner, fulfilling the needs of the requestor, and in compliance with policies and regulations of the hospital, the State and other applicable regulatory agencies. Participates in the Treatment Mall a few hours weekly providing active treatment. Responsible for handling donations given to the individuals being serviced in the hospital

Bachelors Degree in a therapeutic recreation or related therapeutic discipline AND Two years of related experience OR One year of experience at the lower level or position equivalent Note: Some positions may require registration in the area of assignment
Bachelor's degree in Therapeutic Recreation, Music Therapy, Art Therapy, Horticultural Therapy or related field. Certified Therapeutic Recreational Specialist by the National Therapeutic Recreation Council and licensed in State of Georgia a PLUS but not required. Experience in therapeutic recreation at a psychiatric or rehabilitation setting. Certifications in Psychosocial Rehabilitation a PLUS. Must have a valid Driver's License. Must obtain the Safety Care Certification by completion of new employee orientation.
