West Central Georgia Regional Hospital, located in Columbus, GA is currently seeking qualified candidates for the position of Psychiatrist.
Candidates should be Board Certified or Board Eligible in Psychiatry with a career interest and/or experience in public hospital psychiatry. This Psychiatrist will enjoy collegial relationships with a large psychiatric/medical staff, and will benefit from, and provide cross coverage among this group. In conjunction with a comprehensive treatment team the Psychiatrist addresses the clinical needs of Adult and Forensic consumers. Provides comprehensive medical services by examining patients, diagnosing conditions and providing treatment for individuals brought into Admissions. Psychiatrist will also review referrals received from outside facilities to screen for appropriateness for admission to WCGRH/Columbus.
Graduation from a medical school recognized by the composite state board of medical examiners.
Licensure to practice medicine at a state institution or in the state of Georgia as provided by state law is required.
Preference will be given to candidates, who in addition to meeting the qualifications listed above, possess the following:
- Certification by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology
- Experience in treating persons with serious and persistent mental illnesses, and in providing care as leader and member of an interdisciplinary treatment team
- Experience working with consumers in adult mental health, addictive disease, forensic psychiatry
- Completed Residency in Psychiatry
- Board Certified as a practicing Psychiatrist.
