The Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD), is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Counselor at the Outdoor Therapeutic Program (OTP) located in Warm Springs, GA.
This position provides supervision, counseling and training to a group of emotionally disturbed children and adolescents in a residential outdoor therapeutic program.
Job Responsibilities
1. Living in a remote campsite twenty-four hours a day
2. Leading or co-leading a small group of boys and girls during assigned shift.
3. Implementing each youth's individual service plan by leading group problem-solving sessions
4. Coordinating the construction and/or maintenance of camp structures, rails and surroundings
5. Completing required reports and schedules, such as regular service notes, critical incident reports, and weekly time sheets.
6. Working with teachers to meet campers' educational needs.
7. Preparing for and goes on adventure trips with clients
8. Supervising cooking and clean up meals.
9. Coordinating requisition, pick-up and transfer of food to and from camp.
10. May also supervise the preparation of menus.
11. Insures the health, hygiene and physical well-being of campers.
12. Conducts planning sessions with the group to determine schedules which determine daily, monthly and yearly schedules.
This is a residential counselor position (three or four days on duty, then three or four days off) working with troubled youth in a camp-like setting.
This position is located in Warm Springs, GA
Part-time position also available.

High school diploma or GED and two years experience in a social services related position
Or
Bachelor's degree in a social services related field
Or
One year at the lower level or position equivalent
|
Preference will be given to candidates, who in addition to meeting the above qualifications also meet the following: Experience working with youth in an outdoor setting.
